Choudhry admitted to hugging and kissing Sorrell, and in general touching his female employees in ways he would never touch a male employee. He had his pay docked and had to step down as dean, but kept his position as a professor. You will be so glad and shocked to know that a year later, with a lot of additional wokeness and a sexual predator in the White House, he will continue to face basically no consequences for his actions! Btw, it’s Sexual Assault Awareness Month, everybody. That just felt relevant for some reason. Read More...

My home state of Wyoming claims to hold to a “live and let live” ethos. The idea is that everyone just goes along doing what they want to, minding their own business, and not bothering anyone else. In this way we supposedly can accept all cultures, creeds, etc. In reality, this is mostly bullshit. The way that it actually works is “you can do whatever you want, as long as you don’t do it in front of me.” Read More...

June is Pride Month, and so I thought I would take a moment to celebrate the queer women authors and genderqueer authors that have made an impact on my reading habits, my work, and my life. This is by no means an exhaustive list of all of the amazing authors that fall into that category, merely the ones that have had the most impact on me (and probably not even all of those, because there are a lot. I read so much stuff you guys. So much). Because I’m selfish that way. And because if I let myself I would fall down this rabbit hole forever. Read More...

One of the things that I really don’t understand about the GOP is the way their party line is “the government should not regulate anything!” when it comes to things like the economy, housing, medical care, the environment, guns, etc., but then when it comes to a cisgender woman and her uterus the party line becomes “legislate her body to the smallest detail!” Read More...

Seeing as I'm such a Disney fangirl, it may surprise you to know that I've never been to any of the Disney parks. My parents claimed (probably correctly) that as a child I would have had no patience with the lines. As an adult, I'm broke. And probably would still have no patience with lines. So I have no skin in the game when I hear about a park attraction being taken out or updated, except to think "well, there's a ride I won't get to see in the hypothetical future where I get to go to Disney World." Other people take it more personally. Especially, it seems, when the changes involve reducing the sexism on what is supposed to be a family-friendly ride. Read More...

So I was going to write about a new Arkansas abortion bill that could, among other consequences, mean that a sexual assault survivor would have to get permission from her rapist in order to get an abortion. But that topic made me so angry I literally could not word. Which hasn’t happened since the GamerGate fiasco a few years ago, so… well done Arkansas, I guess. Instead you’ll get a shorter, slightly less angry bit about the House dress code. And I'll try to tackle that other thing next week. Read More...
